Kimstead News

Spring 2016
It's been a great winter and early spring to prepare for the upcoming growing season. As of mid-March, we are already 4 weeks ahead in our prep of the gardens. And birthing season has begun with Kimstead Kids being born, lasting through the next few months. Check out our 2016 Kimstead Kids page for the latest cuties! We are also planning our 3rd annual Open Barn on April 30th. Check out our invitation below and let us know if you can make it!

May 24th- CSA Shares and Kid Goats are no longer available
All of our 2016 CSA and Beef Shares have been sold. Thanks to all of our members for their support. Also all of our goat kids are spoken for. However Nevins Farm in Methuen has just received 46 goats to be put up for adoption. Go to their website for more details. We are taking deposits for our Spring 2017 kids. Contact us for more details.

Winter 2016
As we settle into the colder weather, we are very busy planning for the coming season. Most of our does have been bred to either handsome Titus or first time dad, Studly Billy Bob. Birth announcements will begin in mid-March. Many of the upcoming kids have already been sold so if you are looking for some kids in the summer, you may want to give us a call now. Check out our new 2016 Kids page for regular updates.
This past year has been phenomenal in terms of product sales. With the exception of a few salsas and jams, we are sold out and yes, that means we have NO caramel candy available. The good news is that we are planning on warming up the copper pots for caramel production in April when we begin milking our girls so hold on to that sweet tooth!
We are doubling our number of CSA shares this year. If you are interested, check out the CSA page for more details. We are also adding a meat share which will be available in the fall. Ron is putting together information on this program as we speak so stay tuned!
Since Theresa will been able to dedicate more time to the farm this year, the big barn will be available for rent to host your special events as well as offer photography workshops. And speaking of events, our third annual Open Barn is tentatively scheduled for Saturday April 30th so pencil us in! Stay warm and check out the website often as we are adding and upgrading things in the next few weeks.

Fall 2015
It has been a very busy season here at Kimstead Farm. The harvests of our berries and vegetables went beyond anyone's imagination as we had difficulty keeping up with all of the picking. This kept our CSA Members happy! We also added several new members to the Kimstead Farm Family. Welcome 4 year old miniature donkeys Charlie and Eddie (aka Carlos) who have brought their own unique and humorous element to the farm. We also welcome Phillet (aka Filet Mignon) and Tippy (aka Steak Tip), Scottish Highland and Scottish Highland/Jersey cows who will grace our pastures for the next few years.

Products 2015- Order Now for the Holidays!
We have been very busy this season making caramels, jams and salsas. Check out the items as there have been changes to our jam flavors. Remember, items are limited (2015 salsas are already 70% sold) so order your favorites early. New this year are gift bags so let us know if you'd like us to package your items. To reduce frustration, please email or call us with your orders.

April/May 2015
We are smack in the middle of kidding season. As of this writing, we have been gifted with 6 lovely doelings and 4 handsome bucklings. Check all of our newbies out on the 2015 Kids page. We look forward to Guinevere, Abigail and Myrna to complete this year's Kimstead kid family.
We are also looking forward to Kimstead Farm's 2nd Annual Open Barn on May 2nd. Come meet our new kids, play some games and enjoy refreshments. Please contact Theresa or Ron for details!

Fall 2014
We are pleased to welcome Kimstead Farm's first bucks. Both Titus and William Robert (aka Billy Bob) arrived last fall. Titus, the older of the two, got right to work doing what he does best, making beautiful babies with our girls. Billy Bob, who happens to have a permanent smile on his face, is already turning goat heads. We know our does will be lining up to meet him when he is ready for service in the fall.

Product News
With the exception of a few jars of jam and pickles, the shelves at Kimstead are bare this time of year. Our salsas sold out almost instantly last fall. Armed with two new industrial grade tomato/vegetable dicers, we will be doubling our production of Red and Blonde salsas this year. You may want to order in advance as they are already selling fast and the tomatoes have yet to be planted!
We created a few new Caramel candy flavors that were a hit last year and will return again in 2015. Look out for Maple, Coffee, Pumpkin Spice as well as our Original flavors. Caramel candy will be available beginning in early June.
Goat and Mozzarella cheese will be available occasionally during the season.

CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) Information
We still have a few shares (half shares) available in our CSA Program. Go to our CSA page for more details!
